Letters and Furniture

Anyone know of some good phrases to use in letters?  I want my neighbors to send me furniture.  What should I say?  I know that when I asked them for fruit, they sent me furniture sometimes.  So, if I say "Can I have some furniture?"  will they send me anything?

I don't know if this works in City Folk, but in Wild World you could write a letter with 'friend friend friend friend friend' as the contents, and that would count as a really good letter, if you sent a present, you'd get furniture back in response. It's important you only do it five times though.

Thanks! I think I'll try that.

Usually, if you send them a present then you'll get something back in return. They can't understand what you write. You write "You're stupid" or something and it'd work.

I tried once sending a letter that was like "sfkhasdfiopauyer asdfkljhasdfoi safoihasdfn" and the response I got said something about how my letter was such an enigma!
I had sent a present, but didn't get one in return:(

Yes, once when I was trying to get fruit, I just wrote "Fruit" and they all wrote back to me saying how I was so hard to understand. lol.

In GCN there was a certain format you HAD to adhere to in your letters or they sent you back nasty notes with no gift.

Here's what you had to say
the animals name (the auto fill in didin't count , it had to be in the body of the letter)

The name of the town

That you were sending them a "present" (any other word for it didn;t work) and what the present was

So for instance you could send a letter that said

Puddles. Town. Present. Iris Chair.

As long as you sent that and anything you'd get something back

In AC:WW I found that if you incorporate the Battle crys and greetings you taught them into the letters you got nicer stuff back.

But in CF the only thing I know for sure is you can threaten, tell them you hate them and send them pitfalls cans and tires and they still act like you sent them an invitation to a royal ball and send you stuff (I started my CF to be greeted by my least favorite character from WW, one that I had spent about 6 months trying to get to move out, only to have her move to a friends town and then move back so the campaign of terror started early on her... she moved out last week. YAY)

I did experiment with fruit, I sent everyone a cherry and a letter asking specifically for the fruits I did not have naming them all and in two rounds of these letters to all ten residents I got back a cherry and a coconut. The rest returned me with furniture and rugs and walls.

I did have one resident send me back an annoyed letter and he was the one I just wrote "send me fruit"

So I think there's some things the letter has to have... but so far the only thing that I can tell is, Length and Punctuation.

Yah so far as I've tested it it seems you have to have something about two lines long... (or at least a carriage return..haven't tested it to see if it's just a return after the first line that does it)

Although I have noticed that I get nicer stuff in CF when using the Nicknames and battlecries... I even had my default sig changed to what they were calling me and I got back like spotlight items quality items. and about half of it was new stuff to my catalog (I moved in from WW so that's saying something)

i thought i remembered reading somewhere that for the old animal crossing on gamecube, a good letter had to have a symbol in it somewhere. (e.g. a heart, a star etc)
but i don't know if that was true or not. i'd try it, though. but the other comments here seem more accurate fyi. xD

ive been sending fruit every single day trying to get fruit in return. from what i was told you have to put the word fruit in your letter and have it something ledgible. so i write 'whats your native fruit?' i do this mostly for the hope of a banana or orange or something! but i havent gotten any yet. i was told today its at least ten letters per person. but i get ALOT of furniture.

I believe it goes:

1 line letter, they will give you furniature or fruit.
2 lines in your letter and they give you flooring.
3 lines in your letter and they give you wall.
